Hi there friends! February 28, 2011

Hi there!

Sorry for the week of no posts last week… it was a LONG week for me and I just didn’t seem to get around to writing to you – sorry!

In case you are not a ‘friend’ on Facebook, I should let you know that I am still in my hotel room with my family (yep, that’s five of us!) and now our dog has been added to the mix too.  But we are hopeful now that we should have a  rental house to go to starting later this week – have to coordinate the moving truck to get our stuff out of the storage place, and then we should be good to go.  Yippee!

It was a total blessing that we met this lady and that she graciously is helping us – I truly believe that God sent her to us and that this is part of His overall plan for our family.  I even told her that she was an angel sent from heaven at just the right time for us!

In honor of that, I’m sharing some thank you notecards that I made awhile back.  I believe this is a set of four notecards.  Sorry for the quality of the photo – I didn’t have time to take them out of the clear case I have them in to sell.

I love the texture of the cuttlebug bitty dots on the front and then I cut a circle in the front panel of cardstock and then a scalloped circle in the navy blue cardstock panel.  The flower ‘dome’ is an epoxy covered sticker that I just fell in love with.  I had to buy whole bunches of them!  I added some cream twill with a bow and then a tiny tag inked with blue to finish it off.

I can’t wait to have the sunshine this week and enjoy some time outside.  Hopefully that groundhog was right and Spring is right around the corner!

Thanks for stopping by – kate

I’m having a STYLISH day! February 18, 2011

HI All!

I am so excited to share this post today!  The very sweet Sarah has passed along a Stylish Blogger Award to me!  Thank you so much, Sarah!

Now I’m supposed to tell you 8 things about myself and pass the award on to 8 other bloggers.  Here goes:

8 Things about me:
1.  I could go into any craft store and get lost in my own thoughts for hours and hours! ( maybe you already knew that about me!)

2.  I used to be a special education teacher and still have a soft spot for anyone with a disability – visible or not!

3.  My favorite color is green, although since I was a kid, I have loved anything with a rainbow!

4.  I have moved with my husband 7 times in the 11 years we have been married!  yikes!  and NO, we are not military!

5.  I usually work after my kiddos go to bed and love the quiet still of the night – I have been known to work into the wee hours of the morning!

6.  I love to hear historical stories and see historical sites – especially local to where I live.  When we lived in MD, we even took the “tour bus” around Annapolis to hear the stories!

7.  I used to play the flute, but then became allergic – switched to xylophone, pitch percussion and had a blast in the percussion section of the band thru high school and 2 years in college!

8.  I would love to visit Ireland someday – I believe I have relatives there and would love to see the pretty sites I have only seen in books and movies!

8 People I’d like to pass the Stylish Blogger Award to:
1.   Beth – Blooming Where I’m Planted – awesome inspiration!
2.  Denise – Cards ‘n Things – special creations!
3.  Georgia – Stamping with Georgia – cute and stampy!
4.  Nancy – Seaside Creativity – wonderful designs!
5.  Jamie – Unique Ink – love her fun ideas!
6.  Erin – Erin’s Craft Ideas – crafty goodness!
7.  Sherry – Stampin’ With Sherry – lovely design work!
8.  Sabrina – S JButterfly Dreams – beautifully inspiring!

I hope you get a chance to look at any one of their blogs and/or galleries and get inspired as I have!  There is so much talent out there!!!

Thanks again to Sarah, these 8 lovely ladies, and my growing list of supporters.  I am grateful for each of you!

Have a STYLISH day!

Happy Birthday Buddy! February 17, 2011

Filed under: Birthdays,Close To My Heart,Cuttlebug,For Sale,Gifts,Kids,Ribbons,Spellbinders — anotherkatecreation @ 6:15 am

Just wanted to share a Happy Birthday to my little man, Brendan, who turns 10 today!  🙂  I can hardly believe that ten years has gone by – seems like just yesterday, and yet I have SO MANY great memories floating into my head of the past 10 years and the fun we have shared!

I remember getting started with my scrapbooking in our little apartment in Annapolis, MD about 9  years ago.  We had just moved there and I had no job and just Brendan to take care of so my crafting seemed to be picking up.  Of course, those were the days when ‘colored cardstock’ was a good find!  HA!  And if you found some neat stickers to go with your pictures, you were golden!  Funny how this hobby as really grown! I have many people that say, “Oh, I’d LOVE to see your scrapbooks – they would put mine to shame”….honestly, his early scrapbooks are actually so simple, I have thought about redoing them all!  To me, it’s sort-of like looking back at your elementary school days art work and seeing where you are now – there’s a big difference!

Anyway, here’s a card from a couple of years ago.  He wanted something simple and plain and since he is an all-American kind of kid, here’s what I came up with.

I was trying my hand at stamping on ribbon at that time – I must tell you that I don’t like how it came out, but hey, we all have trials and errors! 🙂

I have some surprises planned for my little buddy today – it has been difficult to plan and do much here in the hotel, but I think I have it together for him now 🙂  Hoping he has a good day and yes, I am celebrating too today – 10 years of motherhood! 🙂

Happy Birthday BRENDAN!  Enjoy your special day!

Need a Pedi? February 16, 2011

Filed under: Birthdays,For Sale,Spellbinders,Thank You,Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 3:00 am

Boy, I could go for one!  Although if I got one right now, no one would see it what with me and my big thick socks and winter boots!  This winter chilly weather is tough on the feet – a part of our body that is used most often, but most ignored too.

If you are in need of some pampering yourself or know someone who could use a lift (or a gift!), here’s a fun idea I made a while back but never got to post.

It is a fun box that hangs on a bottle of nail polish remover.  It is made of cardstock and then decorated with fancy patterned papers, gems, ribbons and other fun embellies.  I have made them in a variety of colors and styles. and think it makes a great gift for people who are on their feet all day that you want to spoil!

The first picture shows the girft pack all wrapped up – I put it in a cellophane bag and tied it up with a  matching note card – this one is thank you.

It has tons of goodies inside too – here’s a pic of the contents before I packaged it all up:

The little wrapped things are Hershey’s chocolate nuggets!  I stamped little wrappers to match the gift colors and tossed them all in the bag.  How fun – and who doesn’t like a little chocolate when they are getting pampered??

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Pansies…Thoughts For You February 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 3:00 am

They say that pansies are flowers that stand for thoughts.  They are one of my favorite flowers and every time I see them I think happy thoughts and often my mind wanders to one person in particular.  You know who you are…. 🙂

Today I am sending thoughts along to you and a picture of a neat card I made for you a bit ago 🙂

I just love the way this turned out.  I used the Just For Fun Stamp and Template – see other examples HERE – they are so neat to play with.  This card in particular was made from a recycled card that I just loved – couldn’t bring myself to just get rid of it so it got a new lease on life!

Love and kisses and some hugs to you today!

ps – if you are just looking at this as an e-mail, click it up and check out my new links on my blog – I’m trying to get more techno-savvy!  Let me know what you think – I love your comments!

Thank you, Special One February 8, 2011

I have to tell you that I am trying to be better at this blogging thing and get some of my ideas out there for all of you to see, but it is tricky finding the time to do it all.  I mean, I track lots of other people’s crafty blogs and troll on sites, but when do they find the time to make the crafts, photograph the crafts, post and write about it AND have any type of regular life on top of that??

Well, I can tell you that I found a neat trick that has really helped me – one of the ideas I have had was to take several pics of projects and then upload them all and stagger when I post them.  The other is a neat trick on scheduling the posts – I can actually type this up tonight and then set it to post whenever I want it to – tonight, tomorrow, or even months out!  So you see, when my post time says 3:00 am, be assured my friends, I AM in bed sleeping when it arrives in your inbox 🙂

The card I wanted to share today is actually one I made for a friend (you know who you are and I know you are out there watching!), and I really love the way it turned out.  That being said, I am not really into the oriental things that are out there right now – there are so many papers, stamps and other things to use, but I fell in love with this set and had to use it for this special occassion.

The set is from Hero Arts and the saying is Chinese for “Thank You” – which I stamped in English on the inside.  The floral paper is a special Japanese paper called washi paper and I believe that it is part silk and was really nice to work with – it is handmade paper and just sung to me in the store!

In CA, I had the opportunity to go to a great stamp store (Cranberry Hill Merchantile) that had such neat supplies and stamps – I could get lost int here for hours!   One day while in there, I spotted the gold mesh ribbon in several other colors too – everyone seemed to have a roll of it, so I got bold and asked one lady what she was going to use it for since I had never seen it before.  She made a funny face and said that “EVERY card she made gets some – all the cards in Carmel area have it too!”  Like I was supposed to have known that!

The girl was stamped on white cardstock, colored with colored pencils and then blended.  The scroll was stamped on two colors of pink cardstock and cut out and paper-pieced together then I stuck a gold brad at the top.  Some flowers with bling and a wrap of the ribbon, adhere the girl and viola!  A cute thank you for a special someone!

Cupcakes and Flowers February 3, 2011

Those two combine to make any day special – but especially a birthday!  I just fell in love with this little cuppie cake girl and have had more fun coloring her in all different colors.  Her dress and then the cupcake and glitter effects just make her ‘oh, so cute’ to me!  I also love these girls because you can change their hair color to match the recipient.

Hope you have a smile on your face and a cuppie cake kind of day!  Thanks for stopping by!
