Field Day Fun May 27, 2011

Filed under: Scrapbooking — anotherkatecreation @ 3:00 am

Since this week we have had tons of Field Day fun in our house, I thought I’d share a layout that I did with my son’s pictures from a few years ago.  I love the soft colors in contrast to the bright school shirts they are all wearing – the papers match the other page of the layout, but this page was cuter!  It is nothing really spectacular when you look at it, but I love his pics and smile that he is doing something totally fun – that’s what field day is all about, right??  🙂

Well, I hope you enjoy the fun of this weekend – Memorial Day and school is out on Monday so we are off to see the big parade!  The kids are hoping that Grandma was telling the truth about all the fun this parade will give them! 🙂

Take care –

Blog and E-mail Overload! May 25, 2011

Sooo…. are you wondering what I have been keeping busy with since I am without most of my crafting supplies here?? Well, here’s the answer for those inquiring minds…..

Since we moved over the holidays and into January, my time had really been eaten up big time.  Something had to give, and most of it was crafts, new ideas, and my crafty e-mail.   I opened my crafty e-mail account in February (when I was bored in the hotel) and I had over 2500 unread e-mails!!  Yikes!  I love to troll around on crafty blogs and check out what others are making, the latest trends, and of course see what’s new out on the market in stamping, papers, etc.  Of course I couldn’t just let all these blog posts and e-mails go without checking them out.  So, every day I have been back logging thru everything and am happy to report that I am down below 275 now (*updated since I typed to come down below 150!)  and halfway back thru October (*updated to into August!)!  I tell you, it has been a major feat to go thru everything and mark them as good and then I copy some ideas and print out some pics and such.  I try to keep track of ideas that I like and papers to look out for, etc.

But I want to share some of the goodness that I see out there with you all.  Here is a list of a few of the blogs that I visit for inspiration – I just love these ladies!!

Debbie Olson – great designs and coloring

Tracy Clemente – a super fun blog that is bursting with ideas

Jami Sibley – beautiful design work

Melissa Phillips – vintage shabby chic designs

Kathleen Curry – simply wonderful ideas

Now, this is just a sample of the MANY blogs I love to read and check out.  Click on them and join in the fun of checking out the talent that is out there.  These ladies have REAL talent and design ability and I love to see what they create (not to mention that they are much better bloggers than I am as they are regular with their posts!)

Off for now to check my e-mail and check out some blogs – my hope is to get down below 100 before June!!  Here’s hopin’!

Something Sweet May 23, 2011

Happy Monday~  I am sitting here trying to wrap my brain around the fact that it is going to rain again today 😦 bummer.  Today is field day for both of my daughters and I am hoping they don’t get too wet!  We are winding down the school year – only 8 1/2 days left for them to go!  Yahoo!  I can’t wait – I think I get more excited then the kids do about summer vacation and the freedom it gives us!

But anyhoo – I will get on with the craftiness 🙂  I have wanted to share this card for a bit now – another ‘reject’ from a submission call, but I still like it!  And since my DD made us yummy cupcakes last night, here you go!

Thinking that it would be nice to be able to eat something sweet whenever you wanted- if calories didn’t count, huh?  How delicious would that be??  You know me and my cupcakes!  Thankfully these were paper so I wasn’t tempted – I’m not sure how those ladies do it on those shows like Cupcake Wars and DC Cupcakes – I’d be eating all day long!

Well, I gotta run and get a few things done before I head off to try and capture some of the field day fun!  Hope you get  to try something sweet today!  Enjoy!

Over the Hill May 19, 2011

Hello to all my happy readers!  I know I haven’t been too good about posting regularly, but I have been thinking of crafts and projects and also been taking care of business here on the homefront as well.  No, we have no news on any houses on the horizon, but we are fairly content here at our rental house and for now we are focused on the kids finishing school and just getting thru the day-to-day ‘stuff’ of life.

We have been busy immersing ourselves in the fun things of our new town – two weekends ago was the town’s Spring Fling – it was SO much fun!   They actually shut down the main road and then it was filled with tents and booths – tons of vendors selling food, crafts, games, etc.  It was really fun to go to and the kids got tons of stuff (of course, most of it is that fun party favor stuff moms just LOVE – not!)

And this past weekend we went back downtown where they had again blocked the road for the Danville High School Promenade.  Now this was an event that was really typical to the town.  SOOOO many people crowded the streets and apparently it is an annual event that is not to be missed!  The couples going to the Prom at the Masonic Temple came in on various forms of transportation, got out and the teachers valet parked their cars and then they paraded down the street to the Prom.  It was very neat to see the personalities that came out.  We did not know anyone personally that was going, but it was a fun event for sure!  The modes of transportation ranged from golf carts, horse and buggy, a few tractors, regular cars, BIG trucks with lots of exhaust, fire trucks, a small bus …. but the BEST (we all agreed) by far was the boat on a trailer – 3 couples were partying it up in the back and they looked like they were having a blast!  Now the dresses were another whole story – there was certainly enough glitz and sparkle and flowers to light up the town!  So many beautiful gowns and colors and no two the same!  I could go on forever, but alas, I will leave it at the fact that we were all wowed.

We are certainly finding fun things to do around town here and making the adjustment to East Coast living again – have to say I miss the CA sunshine, but am loving being back in “Hometown America”!

Now, onto a crafty project. 🙂  I missed saying a BIG Happy Birthday to my dear hubby, Pete!  He turned the BIG 4-0 and we had a quiet celebration for him.  Here’s a card I made with a sentiment that is just right for him:

HA!  Makes me laugh!!  We joked with him all week and even now about him being “SO old”!  The kids and I got him some gag gifts and had fun making fun of him – it was rally a hoot!  Really, I wish him a happy year and many more to come!

Hope you all are doing well – I am hoping for some good weather this weekend and a visit with some good friends!  Good thoughts to you all – thanks for checking in!

Adjusting the Sails May 12, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 3:00 am

Sorry I have not been visiting the blog in a bit…. we had a crazy week or two of events and things happening and then the wonderful stomach flu came for a visit in our house – blah!  Luckily, only 2 kids got it and then it passed to me and I swear I had it the worst of everyone.  I haven’t been that sick in quite a few years and don’t hope to go back there any time soon!

Now, on to the fun of crafting!  I have not had much time to make anything new, plus not feeling well has left me drained.  But, I found this card that I hadn’t posted yet, so here goes 🙂  This card remids me of our travels and move across the country – we didn’t plan to be in the hotel for two months and then have to scramble to find a rental house, still not finding a house to bid on, but we’ve adjusted the sails and think we have done fairly well, all things considered.  Sometimes life hands us a curve ball and we just have to roll with it!

Here’s hoping the wind catches your sails and points you in the RIGHT direction!

Enjoy,
