A Stitch In Time June 30, 2011

So, for a long time I have been looking at many people’s blogs and their creativeness in the same stamping field and have longingly looked at the ones that have stitching on them.  I love how they look, but for some reason I have been SO intimidated about doing it that I have shied away from trying.
Well, NO more intimidation here – I dusted off my sewing machine (after I found it in the box in the garage, hee hee!) and went to work.  I practiced A LOT before actually going at this card, and I have to say that now I know why I was so intimidated!!  I can hardly sew in a straight line!!  This I definitely do NOT get from my mom!!! She is a whiz at the sewing machine and can whip off anything you ask her to in no time.  Me, well, I thought all I could do was straight stitching, and alas, I can not even do that very well!!

Oh well, if I never tried, I never would have known!  I think the key is more practicing – try, try again, right??  Or if anyone has any words of wisdom, let me have them! 🙂

Here’s my attempt at stitching on a card:

Anyhoo – it leads me to my next blogging attempt 🙂  Since you all liked the Christmas preview last year, I decided to play around again this year and do my

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

theme again!  I hope you will join me in the cool winter rush of fun in the midst of the heat of summer!  And if you see anything you like, just let me know and we’ll plan for your own stash to be ready by the time the festivities arrive!

Take care – thanks for sharing in my fun today!

A Pretty Little Package June 28, 2011

Filed under: Birthdays,For Sale,Gifts,Magnolia,Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 1:00 am

Hey there folks!  I am on the fly today since we are off to camp in just a few days and there is so much to prepare!  Who said this was a vacation for any mom??  We are headed into the woods with the kids and the dog and can’t wait to get back to nature and have some fun.

But in the midst of packing, I found this little cutie that I forgot to post!  Another Magnolia girl – here used in a fancy birthday card.  I stamped her and then colored her with colored pencils and then gamsol blended her.  She is trimmed and matted with a soft yellow and then added to the card along with a doily and some flowers and pearls and a bow of soft cream jute is tied at the top.

I think it turned out nice and I like the colors – gray and yellow – which seem to be a trend right now.  I think I will add this to my collection to sell this fall – hoping to have a pile soon enough!

Well, I’m off to keep going on the packing!  Stay tuned for some crafty fun coming soon to my blog – you won’t want to miss it!

Take care happy campers!

A Cheery Happy Day June 24, 2011

Filed under: Birthdays,C.C. Designs,For Sale,Gifts,Kids,Ribbons — anotherkatecreation @ 12:11 am

Hi All!!

First, I have to say, thanks for stopping by today!  Now I shall tell you that it is a special day for me today – it’s my birthday!  I have to tell you that usually, my birthday is just another day, but today I have some special plans and am already starting the day of on a good foot!  My darling hubby got me roses, a balloon, took me out to dinner last night and then we had gifts and lots of fun!  And later today I am headed to go and scrapbook for the weekend with my girlfriends.  What more could a girl ask for on her birthday??

Thinking about birthdays and fun, I thought I’d share this card with you.

I love the bright colors and ‘fun-ness’ of this card!  I stamped the girl and the presents separately, colored and blended them and then cut them out.  The girl is fussy-cut and the packes are squared off, and matted.  I then added the girl with dimensionals for an added pop.  Scalloped edge with rick-rack and then the sentiment matted and added with brads.  So much fun!

I’m off to spend some time with my cutie kiddos and then to pack and head out!  Hope you have a special day filled with fun too!  Enjoy!

Mommy Chalk or Sidewalk Chalk? June 16, 2011

Another fun summertime thing to do – play with sidewalk chalk!  I know my kids love to do it – I used to find whole towns of roads all over, drawings of all kinds and of course, lots of practicing their names and letters – what fun!  Let’s get back to those fun childhood days, but with our own set of chalks!

Now, this card is a sympathy card – another one I sent in that was rejected for publication, but I love the colors and technique of this one so I thought I’d share.  The stamps are from Hero Arts – watercolor flowers – and I just fell in love with the way they are like watercolors and soft flowers.  I stamped them first with versamark ink and then while it was still wet, I used my chalks and colored them.  I did the same for the butterfly on just a scrap of paper and then cut it out and ‘sculpted’ it a bit.  I only tacked it to the card thru the middle so that it could stand out a bit.  I tied  a bow and glue dotted it on top of the flower image.  I added it to a strip of purple dotted Bazzill and then on top of a long kraft card.  I added the sentiment on the bottom on its own strip.

Thanks for stopping in today to see what I posted – hopefully it gives you a bit of inspiration!  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Cupcake! June 14, 2011

So, you know me and the cupcake pull is just to great for me to resist… I got this great new set of stamps from PTI and have had the most fun playing with it – it is totally interchangeable and so much fun to play with.  You’ll see it in action in many ways soon enough!

Wednesday is my niece’s birthday – Happy Birthday Caroline! – and I wanted to make her a fun card.  Her favorite color is orange, which I have to admit is not a color I like to work with.  So I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h my creativeness and this is what I came up with.

I also decided to play along with a challenge for the first time in a very long time – over at Eat, Sleep, Stamp.  Tracy always has such neat sketches and challenges and I decided to play along with this one.

Because I still have limited supplies here at my rental, I needed to break out some stuff and get crafty!  The papers and supplies are mostly from Michaels and other than fussy cutting it by hand instead of a die cut, it was relatively easy.

Well, I hope your week is turning out well – it has cooled off a bit here so I don’t feel like we are cooking in our house, but it has been sunny and pleasant!  Enjoy your day!

Dog Days of Summer June 8, 2011

Well, I thought it only appropriate as I typed this and found the pics I wanted to share that I titled this the ‘Dog Days of Summer’ since today my car thermometer hit 100* and we are very hot!  We finally got a little relief by buying  a small one room A/C unit for our living room and now that the kids are out of school we have been slumbering down here and everyone is feeling a bit better.  Tomorrow is supposed to be just as bad, so we are bracing for a low-key day.

This is a mini album that I finished at my crop in April but I haven’t had time to take the pics and post it here yet – time has been flying!  It is dedicated to our pup, Freddie who we call Freddie Bear since he looks like  teddy bear and is just as snuggly!

I had tons of fun picking the papers at CKC last year in Valley Forge from  Boxer Scrapbooks   and the book itself is from a FAV company – Creek Bank Creations – they have THE best chipboard albums and you can even create your own and they will cut it for you…so awesome!  And is you are going to order or get one, make sure to order the sanding helpers – big brother and little sister, I happen to think they are one of the best  on the market!

Okay, onward we go – I covered each of the pages on the front and back with patterned paper and then sanded the edges and inked them for a fun brown feel.  Cricut cut the front title and shadowed it for a pop effect.  I had a pile of stickers and embellies for dogs that I just picked and chose from and added them randomly throughout the book pages.  I had fun working on this and the kids certainly enjoyed the pics and fun of the book. 🙂

some fun ribbons tied to the silver ring make this really fun – and there is a dog tag there too – it matches Freddie’s real one! 🙂

 puppy love on each page!

and some fun pages from his first days home with us

This was a fun and quick book to make.  I am not all that big on the mini-albums for everything, but I definitely do not have tome to start another scrapbook for anyone in my family, let alone the dog.  So this way, we have the memories and pics all in one place and I can call it done!  If you haven’t already tried one, give it a whirl – it’s lots of fun and also very gratifying!

Hope you are all surviving the heat – take it easy and craft a bit if you can!

Thanks Teach! June 3, 2011

Filed under: C.C. Designs,Cuttlebug,Gifts,Ribbons,Spellbinders,Thank You — anotherkatecreation @ 3:00 am

Happy Friday Friends!

Today is the last day of school for my kiddos and it seems to be a day filled with mixed emotions for me.  My kids are all growing up way too fast and yet I am proud of them for all of their accomplishments and that they have made it through this very tumultuous year!

I wanted to take a moment today and thank all of the teachers out there – my kids have been blessed to have had some really good ones in the past few years and I know first hand how hard the job really is.  So here’s a card to send my appreciation out to those who touch the future each and every day!

A Fun design from CC Designs – Teacher with her apple basket and then I used some cute paper that is hard to see in the pic – but it is glossy and glittery and fun all around!  And then I found this gorgeous ruler ribbon that I just have to say that I love it so much, I find it hard to use!  Does that ever happen to you?  I thought it went well with the teachery theme for this card.  I added some tiny pearls to the top corner and the bottom apple in the circle is covered with glossy accents for some added shine.

a cheery thank you for any teacher

fun on the inside as well!

I hope you have a cheery Friday and an equally fun weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!
