Tree Trimming and Treats July 27, 2011

Hi All!  If you are stopping in, I just want to let you know that you are entering the CHRISTMAS IN JULY  fun on my blog today!

Wahoo!!  I can hardly believe it!!   Can you guess what today is???

This is my 100th post!!!

It seems like it was just yesterday I got the nudge from Beth and Colleen to start doing this!  I guess it’s time to PARTY!!   Who wants to win some blog candy??  Well, leave me a comment here on this post and I’ll pick one person randomly to win something fun!!

Now onto the crafts – I am having a hard time that it is already the end of July and that I only have 2 more posts in this Christmas in July funness!!  This week has been another whirlwind for me and my gang as I am trying to get packed and ready to go to CKC in Valley Forge!  I can’t wait to take some new classes, see some familiar faces and spend time with crafty goodness all around me – hee hee – I feel like a kid winning the golden ticket to go to the candy factory! 🙂

Anyway, this is the card I have to share with you today – I so adore this little guy – Ornament Trevor from C.C. Designs

The picture does not do it justice – and yes, the card colors really DO match more in person than on this pic.  It looks like the reds are just way off, huh?  Oh, well, I am learning new things about my camera everyday and I guess I’ll chalk this one up for more experience!   I love the C.C. Designs little kiddos and they are certainly fun to color.  The papers are from my stash as I am trying to use up the old before buying tons more and the sentiment (studio g) is added with one of my fav organdy ribbons.

Okay, now don’t forget to leave me a comment for your chance to WIN – tell me what card/project  has been your favorite to view over the course of the Christmas in July posts??  OR you can tell me what has been your favorite post over the past 100 that I have done! ha!

thanks for stopping by today – enjoy the day!!

Hey there!  If you are just stopping by, I should let you know that I am in the midst of my CHRISTMAS IN JULY posts.  Hope you enjoy!

Hi there and Happy Monday everyone!  I hope that you found something *cool* to do this weekend – perhaps crafting??  I did a bit of the family thing, a bit of resting and a bit of crafting.  Overall, it was a good weekend!

In our town, we had the Iron Heritage Festival – Danville, PA boasts that it was the town to produce the first T-Rail for the railroad and helped the western movement in the US.  The festival was really neat and full of history so with that in mind, I thought I would pull out an “oldie but a goodie” card for you today!

Here is my silly, smiley snowman!!  He makes me just want to laugh out loud!

I chose some bright holiday colors to mat him with, a simple sentiment and a black card to make the image *pop*.  I added real buttons for some dimension on the piece.

It kinda makes me wish there was a snow pile outside so I could run and make a snowman!  But, for today, I will take the sunshine and nicer temps and wait for winter to arrive soon enough!

I hope you have a COOL Monday!  thanks for stopping by!!

Flurries of Fun July 22, 2011

Hi there!  If you have just stumbled onto my blog, I am in the middle of my CHRISTMAS IN JULY posts, so sit back with a cool drink and enjoy!

Today is a super HOT HOT day here in Central PA -well, all over PA!   Just coming back from grandma’s cool pool and the car registered 104* – YIKES!  We are attempting every which way to keep cool!   Tomorrow is supposed to be just as bad, but we will be brave and attempt to get out to the Iron Heritage Festival in our town.

Since it is Friday, here’s my fun nifty-gifty idea for you!

My kids are forever wanting chapsticks and lip gloss and so I thought this would be a fun little gift for my nieces and nephews and the kids’ friends.  I created the little chapstick holder with my score board and kraft paper – very easy and then I wrapped it with the mitten paper.  I cut one mitten out of the patterned paper, wrote a name on the top, and added it to the front with dimensionals.  I used some button twine and wrapped it around the package a few times and then tied a bow.  I also used the twine to make a hanger for the top.  I used some krinkle paper to add to the inside and popped the chapstick in there.

For the card, I used kraft paper for the base, then added a string of the mitten paper and then added a string and some bows out of the button twine.  I stamped the sentiment and viola!  the set was complete.

I thought it was a neat little way to give something small to someone special.  I was thinking in my head while making it that it would be neat to make a whole bunch of them up and then hang them from a Christmas tree for party favors for a holiday get-together –  what do you think?

I hope you are somewhere staying cool today – maybe this holiday and Christmas in July stuff is helping to cool you off just a bit!  Take care and enjoy the weekend – I’ll be back on Monday for the last week of holiday fun!

Candy Cane Kisses July 20, 2011

Hello there!   If you have just stumbled into my blog, then welcome!  I am currently in the middle of my CHRISTMAS IN JULY posts, so I hope you can share in the fun!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope the week is treating you well!  This post is going to be short and sweet – time is a wasting around here! *wink*   Just Kidding!

Last year, I previewed this little beauty for you and everyone seemed to like her so I modified the colors and here’s another take on her.  Tilda is her name and this is her with a candy cane ready to greet you for the holidays!  So darling – right??

I didn’t want to spoil the fun of the image by adding too much to the card, so I simply added some red ribbon and tiny buttons to the bottom.  I think she is just right to say ‘Happy Holidays’ to anyone!

Take it easy in the heat today!

Warmest Wishes To You July 18, 2011

Hi there!  If you have stumbled onto my blog, please know that I am celebrating this month and you are viewing my CHRISTMAS IN JULY posts.  Sit back and enjoy!

Hi everyone!!  It’s been another hot weekend here in Central PA and I hear that this week is going to be another one as well…. So I’m sending some cool thoughts your way with another card I stitched upon!  I lugged out the ol’ sewing machine to give the stitching thing another whirl.  And here’s what I came up with this time.

I know it looks kinda similar to the first one – but I did turn it the other way, added a different saying and what I learned from the first time, I tried to apply here.  I distressed everything with some distress ink and added a big ol’ button with twine in it.  I think I like this one a bit more since I had some more practice, but it still isn’t up to my standards just yet – we all have to start somewhere!

Well, we are chugging along here at home today – I have to get some cleaning and laundry done before I ‘run away’ for the rest of the week to the comfort of grandma and grandpa’s house and pool! 🙂   We also have to pick up my son’s football uniform and equipment (Lord, help us all – he starts his practices in early August!) tonight and do some errands in town.  Hoping to stay a bit in the shade and keep cool!  Here’s hoping you can do the same!

Thanks for stopping by –

Flaky Fun July 15, 2011

Howdy!  If you have just stumbled into my blog, I need to let you know that you have stumbled into my CHRISTMAS IN JULY postings – hope you enjoy!

Welcome to another fun Friday!  I told you previously that on Fridays I would post something other than a regular, plain, old card – last week you got to see a cute little treat container perfect for gift-giving and today I thought I’d show you something else that I am working on for this holiday season.

I know so many of us are pressed for time and/or don’t know what to get for that one person on our lists, so we often head to the gift card aisle and then have a hard time presenting it in a nice way to let the recipient know that you really DO care and that you thought about them in the process.  I have worked on a series of cards that present gift cards in a fun way that does just that!

Here’s one example:

The top is the front of the card and the bottom is the inside.

Of course, I forgot to add the gift card into the envelope BEFORE I took the picture, but hopefully you get the idea!  Lots of ink and distressing on this one – and a cute snowman!  I like the way this came out – it was lots of fun to think up!

Hope you are enjoying the week and have great things planned for the weekend!  Enjoy some craftiness!

Skiing By With A Little Hi! July 13, 2011

If you are just stopping by, you have stumbled into my CHRISTMAS IN JULY postings – sit back, relax and enjoy!

Hello out there in cyber world!  Another Wednesday and another fun card to post today! 🙂   Okay, I have to tell you that I fell in love with this little stamped image mostly because of the cute hat 😉 *wink*   I have never been, nor do I ever wish to go skiing!  The  thought of flinging myself down a cold, snowy mountainside on two little boards holds no appeal to me – I would much rather be in the cabin cozied up with a big blankie and a cup of cocoa!  But I like this little guy and I know that many others like to ski.

I had a little fun with the colors on this – added some not-so-traditional ones to match the patterned papers and I also added a bit of dimension to the card with the snow on the bottom – it is puffed up with liquid applique.  The snowflakes are buttons and I added lots of fun ribbons to the side – no bow so it could be more masculine!

Warm wishes to you all – hee hee – for a great Wednesday!  Enjoy yourself!
