Well hello there friends! Did you think I had abandoned you?? Not the case – just been busy thru the end of July and into August! Truthfully, I cannot believe that it is the middle of August already!?! Lots has gone on in my life and truthfully I just haven’t had time to get tp the computer and type up a post!
I hope that you enjoyed the wonderful fun of my Christmas In July posts – I certainly had lots of fun making the cards and gifts and sharing them! As for the contest… the winner is Molly!! My one and only response for the day of the blog candy SO – look for a fun treat to come your way sometime soon!! Thanks for responding and for ALL of your great comments on the holiday fun!!!
Now, let’s get on to today’s fun! I saw this technique a bit ago on the web – it talked about making a quilt and then adding texture with embossing to make it all look cohesive – without stitching! Since I have been trying out some new techniques and playing around this summer, I thought I would give it a try! Here’s a peek at my first go of this technique –
The set of four quilted cards.
A close-up of one card.
If you can’t see it, there is a textile texture to the whole quilted piece and ten it is mounted on the card. I used one of my favorite Papertrey Ink stamp sets – Quilter’s Sampler and the Quilter’s Sampler Sentiments – for the sentiments on each card. I made a set of four cards since i had the squares all cut and ready for the blocks.
I thought it was a fun technique and would definitely do it again. I think it is hard to find small “calico-looking” papers to do this technique with though. Hopefully you might feel inspired to make something fun today too – go for it! I have to say I have been inspired to try some new things in my life this summer and I am feeling renewed. Maybe it will work for you as well!!
Take care – thanks for stopping by today!
