The Results Are In! September 30, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 5:31 am

I would not be the best mom that my kids think of me as (wink!) if I didn’t share the results of the stamping challenge that my kids participated in this month.  The challenge ended on Sunday and here are the details :

Some other person who entered the competition actually won, but the girls got an honorable mention and this was on the DeNami post:

This time around, we had two very young crafters participate in this challenge. I just loved their ADORABLE creations, I had to share them with you all. It just warms my heart to see that we have people of all ages following our blog- it makes me so happy!

You can see all the details on the original post here:

http://denami.blogspot.com/2011/09/theme-challenge-7-fabulous-3-spotlight.html

Paulina is SO awesome – as are all the ladies on the DeNami team!  And between that and ALL of the comments that were left for the girls on my blog, they were just SO ECSTATIC!!  I think they were also so happy that they each got 10 comments on the blog post and I usually only get about 2 – not sure which one made them happier!!  They have been so happy that the craftiness has been rolling along and they have been making some pretty cool things lately.  I’ll post again soon with some of their fun, but, hey – can you share some comments with me too??

Hope you all have a wonderful  weekend – tomorrow is a special day in the world of card-making – it’s WCMD!!!  That’s World Card Making Day!!!  Yep, that’s right – it’s a day set aside just for making cards!!  It’s time to break out the stamps for the holiday cards and get crackin’!!  Hopefully you can join in the fun!

Take care and thanks for tuning in!

Birthday Wishes September 27, 2011

Hi peeps!  Can you believe that the end of September is here??  I can’t!  I think the years are going faster and faster and time seems to be slipping away from me!  I wish we could freeze time sometimes – but I guess we just need to stay in the moment while it is here and enjoy the days just a little bit more when we can.

Well, on to the crafty project you are no doubt here for.  Today I wanted to show you a fun birthday card that I whipped up in literally minutes!  I got these stamps at the convention in July and just had to play with them.  I love the crock – stamps by Judith – and then I wanted to fill it with some flowers that looked wildflowerish so I used the silhouettes from Technique Tuesday.  Ink is from Papertrey Ink and papers are from my stash the Basic Grey Kioshi pad.

Not too many embellishments on the card since I wanted the image to be the main focus and added a simple sentiment.

Sorry for the quality of the picture – it has been a grey and rainy month here and I am thinking that I just have to break down and make myself a lightbox to take my pictures since the lighting is so off here in our rental house.  A fellow blogger came up with a great tutorial and I just might have to give it a whirl.

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

99 Days and Counting!! September 16, 2011

Filed under: Christmas — anotherkatecreation @ 12:24 pm

Oh my, mom, you may not want to see this post!!  Hide your eyes if you are weak 🙂

My title says it all…. it is only 99 Days until….

CHRISTMAS!!

That’s right, only 99 days of hunting down the perfect gifts, wrapping them and decorating your whole house.  Not to mention the baking, the cooking, the card making, writing and sending!!  Getting the kids photos, getting their lists off to Santa, the list goes on and on!!

I for one am NOT ready at all for any of this!  I have been working on a few cards for my own stash, but for the most part, I have been working on a stash for sale.  Now I guess the countdown is on and I definitely have to get crackin’.

I just wanted to send a little greeting out today to remind you of the numbers… and time that seems to be running out – FAST.

Here’s a cute little holiday snowman to help cheer you up now!

He is a High Hopes stamp and lots of fun to color and decorate.  My girls like this one as well – he’s just a ball of fun (pun intended!)!

Here’s hoping you have a great weekend!

I am SO excited and I can’t believe that it has taken me so long to post this – but here’ some cool news!!  I was honored a while back – November 2010 – to get published for the very first time in a great magazine, Paper Crafts.  I was so honored and excited and did share my news here and here, but now there is follow-up news to that.

Every so often, the magazine does a posting of designers who have appeared in the magazine and have a  papercrafting blog.  Well…  mine was mentioned just two months ago!!!!  You can check it out if you like here:

Abbie’s A+ Art September 12, 2011

Filed under: DeNami Design — anotherkatecreation @ 10:24 am

When I said both of my crafters were hard at work this weekend, I meant both and how could I post one without the other??  Of course, they were BEYOND excited that I was going to share their work here on my blog (usually only reserved for the best of the best).  But, with that also came the request that they each had their own posting!  jeesh!  SO here goes the post for Abbie (my 8-year-old).

If you don’t remember the details, the challenge was anything animal – details can be found here – and they had to use one of the DeNami stamps.

Abbie, the artist, hand cut EVERYTHING on the card.  She thought the pigs were so cute and that they should be playing in mud puddles.  Then she found a scrap of glitter black paper and had to make some rain clouds and rain drops.  After it was complete, she thought the pigs should have some umbrellas, so she cut them each a striped one for fun.  What fun for the “Rainy Day Pigs”!!

Now, do you think she will win???  No one knows for a bit, but both girls did and EXCELLENT job on their art work – very true to each of their personalities and they had fun in the process!  Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my little ones art!

thanks for checking us out –

ps – The title reflects the name that Abbie has given her artwork – she came up with it all on her own as I am “Another Kate Creation”, she wants to be known as “Abbie’s A+ Art” 🙂 cute!

Meg’s Fun September 11, 2011

Filed under: DeNami Design — anotherkatecreation @ 5:17 pm

Well, it has been a LONG week and weekend here at my house as we have been suffering the torrential rains and flooding in our town.  The kids got sent home early from school last Wednesday and then had Thursday and Friday off.  Now we have just gotten word that they will have Mon. and Tues. off as well since the roads are still not open and the middle school had severe flood damage.  As a mom, I was relieved that they were home and safe and that we didn’t have any water problems in our rental house.  But also as a mom, it has been hard to keep the kiddos occupied during all this time off – especially since we can’t go anywhere because of the flooding.  Ugh.

Anyhoo… my little crafters have decided this wasn’t such a bad thing. Since mom has been crafting away, they wanted to join in the fun!  One time, they came to me saying they were bored, so I told them of a challenge on a stamp company’s blog that they could play along with.  The theme of the challenge was “animals’ – details here – and that you should use their stamps.  Since we have some that they love to play with, it was easy.  They were intrigued and here’s what Meghan (my 6-year-old) came up with.

Meghan loves the doggie stamps and had great fun designing the purple polka-dotted paper with the stripes – one for each dog – coloring and then punching them each out.  I only helped cut the paper to fit the card and helped make the stripes straight – other than that, she did it completely!

What do you think??  Do you think she will win the challenge??  One never knows, but I think the fun is in the creating! 🙂

Hope you got to create something fun this weekend!

ps – I’ll be sharing some of her other creations soon as she was in crafting mode after finishing this one and kept on going!

Welcome to STAMPTEMBER! 😉

That’s just my fun for the month since I have been playing with some stamps and papers and such and am determined to get crafty this month!  I am also trying some new techniques – you saw in my last post that I  played with the watercolor crayons from Technique Tuesday – what a fun product!  Today I am also playing with the same sketch – can be found here – and wanted to use this cute little stamp from Stamps by Judith.  Here’s what  came up with:

I really love this stamp – fell in love with it at the convention and I guess I like it because it has 5 little snowmen  – just like my family – and that seems to draw me to them.  They make a cute little family, I think.  Anyway…. I stamped them and then added snowflakes with this stamp from Technique Tuesday – another find at the convention.  Then I cropped it to the right size and added the sentiment on a strip – from this stamp set – and added buttons with twine to the top corner to finish it off.

What do you think??  Leave a comment and tell me your opinion – I love to hear from you! 🙂

Now – two posts in one day is A LOT for me – but I hope to be back soon with more STAMPTEMBER fun so keep your eyes open!

Take care –
