Count Your Rainbows May 17, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — anotherkatecreation @ 1:00 am

After many days of stormy weather here in PA, we finally have some sunshine today!  Thank goodness since today is my first graders field day~ wouldn’t want to do all of that fun inside!

Here’s a different kind of card from me – this one is paper pieced and then stitched on the sewing machine.  I was attempting a look of rays of sunshine with the rainbow and then added the stamped sentiment on top.

I like the look of the finished product – makes me feel cheery and refreshed!

Hoping it brings you some cheer this morning as well!

take care –

You Rock May 15, 2012

Hey there!  Happy Tuesday Morning!  Sorry I didn’t get any posts up last week – this end of the year is getting very busy around my house with dance shows, concerts, camping trips and wrap-up meetings.  Seems hard to squeeze it all in – we need more hours in the day to do it all!

So, on to this week we go……. Tonight my son has his very first band concert.  He has been taking lessons on his trumpet and the entire fifth grade is all ready to serenade us tonight. 🙂  Should be fun!

In honor of this great occasion, I thought I’d show you this fun card I created:

It’s hard to come up with many masculine designs for cards.  Let’s get real, there aren’t that many stamps out there for the men in our lives, so it makes it a challenge when you are in need of one.  I picked up this stamp at CKC last summer and had to break it out.  I had fun with paper-piecing the shirt, pants and guitar and the rest is colored with colored pencils and blended.

Happy with the way this one came out and off for the fun of the day and concert in the evening!

Thanks for stopping by~

Happy Anniversary May 3, 2012

How is your week going?  So far, so good on this end! 🙂

I’m back again today to share a simple card with you.  I sent this in for a submission call, but it was rejected, so off to the pile  it goes!

Today is one of my very good friends anniversary – so many years ago that I can’t even remember how many!  Seems like they have been together forever since I know they were high school sweethearts, I knew them thru college, and then they got married.  I still remember the day they got married.  They had the wedding in the tiniest little country church.  We were running late getting there and when we finally arrived, out I stepped from the car and landed my fancy high heels into a pile of horse poop!  Not a great thing to have happen on your way into church!   Then we went up to the church, which they had already shut the front doors for the ceremony and when we opened them, the WHOLE congregation turned around to see us!  I guess they thought I was the bride coming down the aisle!  Talk about embarrassing!!  We had to then “sneak” into the back and since there were so many people, it was standing room only.  A beautiful ceremony followed by a wonderful reception… and the rest is history!  We have moved all around the country, but we have remained close – even being pregnant at the same time and having our daughters only 3 days apart!

So, I want to say Happy Anniversary to Brian and Steph!  May you have MANY more wonderful years together!

Fun flowers created with Spellbinders blossom nesties in all sizes.  Monochromatic look with cardstock, buttons, and ink.  Tied it off with an organdy ribbon and a little tag to wish them Happy Anniversary!

Thanks for stopping by – see you all next week!

Graduation Glitter May 1, 2012

Filed under: Card Maker Magazine,Clear Dollar Stamps,Spellbinders — anotherkatecreation @ 1:00 am

Well, I am not trying to brag or anything, but I am here again today to share another publication! Yeah!  I get SO excited to share my good news here with all of you!  This is the May/June Issue of CardMaker Magazine that I have been published in.  The call was for graduation cards and the theme for the magazine was glitter, glitz, and glam.

Here is the cover:

And here is the page that I am on – just love seeing my name in print!  And my son, Brendan, and I agreed that this is definitely NOT the best picture of my work that they could have showcased.  But that is up to their photographer and graphic editor, not us!

And here is a close-up of the card that I submitted.

Now, let’s play the game from Sesame Street many a year ago….. “Which One Of These Is Not Like the Other?”

Yep, if you said my submitted card was different, then you guessed it!  Sometimes, the editors like the design but want to tweak it to their exact liking.  This time, they liked my card, but wanted me to change the background to more red.  They give you specific directions and then you do it and send it in.  I guess it is ultimately up to them if they choose to use it since I have to wait for an acceptance contract again, but hey, I am happy to have had 3 publications this year!

Thanks for stopping in to see my happy news!

Take care –
