Mini Valentines February 18, 2013

Hello there friends!
So I am a few days late with getting this posted, but what’s new right?  Well, last week was a really LONG one here at my house and yet a quick one for my kiddos and school!  They ‘celebrated’ the 100th day of school on Tuesday, Thursday was Valentine parties, and Friday was a day off!

I wanted to share a fun project I made with my second grader for her class Valentines.  She had fun helping mommy choose, design, and work on finishing these cuties for each of her class friends. First, let me tell you that we were designing a fun and cute way to package little tatoo boxes I had gotten on clearance last year from one of the big box stores – I simply can’t just give them out, we HAD to dress them up!

Here’s my Meghan hard at work crimping the ends of the packages – simple white and red striped paper cut and crimped on one end, stuffed in the tatoos and an eraser we also found in the stash, and then crimped on the other end.

Here are the puffy little packages all ready for the outside design. 🙂

Meghan then helped me design a sticker for the front of the packages – we used PTI labels and stamps to make it festive with sayings and lots of hearts. 🙂 Then I tied little bows for each using some fun twine in red and white.

Hard at work getting each package put together…..

And here is a pic of the finished product! Just a few nights of working together and my little one had a sweet surprise to give to her friends! So simple and fun to make and I think she really had fun with them – well, I know she laughed and smiled every time I got out the camera and said I was going to take pics to post! HA!

Well, i hope you enjoyed our fun little Valentine treats!
Take care,

Stars and Stripes Forever July 4, 2012

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!  Today is a fun day all over the USA with parties, BBQs, and most of all fireworks displays!  We are happy to be going to our new town’s show of spectacular fireworks tonight.  The kids will have a blast I am sure and I love to watch them dance in the night sky!

The move went fairly smoothly and now we are tackling unpacking everything and getting it into it’s proper “home”.  The kids are settling in and making some new friends in the neighborhood and enjoying opening boxes to see their “stuff”!  Thanks for everyone’s well-wishes!

Now on to the crafty fun!  Here’s two cards I forgot to post last year at Father’s Day – a card I made for my father-in-law and one for my father.  I thought it would be fun to share them here since it was all about the stars and stripes and being a great all- American dad/grandpa! ( Please pardon the handwritten sentiment, at that point in my last move I didn’t have my spring sentiments out of the box!)

And here is the card I made for my father.  He was in the Navy and so I  used the nautical theme.   Just love that little sailor hat!

So, Happy “Red,White, and Blue”, “Stars and Stripes Forever”, and all that jazz.  May you all be safe and well and “God Bless America”!

Thanks for stopping in!

Sweetness! March 19, 2012

I feel like the months and days are flying by this year already!  Can’t believe it is mid March already!  I forgot to get this posted here for you all to see…..  I’ve been published again!   Part of the problem is the publication dates are off from the actual deadlines I have – for this one, it was last summer!

This time it was the CardMaker Magazine for their January/February issue.   I submitted several designs and this one was picked up.  I was very excited to see that I had “made it” again.  It’s always a good feeling to know that someone out there likes your design and appreciates your hard work.

Here is a copy of the cover of the magazine… (click image to go to the site to purchase if you wish)

and here is my card…..

I had fun designing this one – it was a real easy card with just one Martha Stewart punch in several different colors layered on top of each other.  The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink.  Hope you enjoy!

Have a great Monday!

Winter Wishes December 9, 2011

Have you missed me???  I haven’t been hiding, just been very busy as I’m sure you are too!!  Tis the season!!  🙂

Things are fine here in Danville, just getting ready for the arctic cold to come tonight so I thought I’d send out a fun card I made for a holiday card exchange I did a few weeks ago.  Check this little cutie out:

The front of the card.

Then here is the inside of the card – with a fun surprise for the recipient too!!

Lots of fun going on both inside and out!   And I used some of my favorite stamps – lots of little ideas, but it all came together so cutely and I really enjoyed it!

Take care and stay warm this weekend!

Welcome to STAMPTEMBER! 😉

That’s just my fun for the month since I have been playing with some stamps and papers and such and am determined to get crafty this month!  I am also trying some new techniques – you saw in my last post that I  played with the watercolor crayons from Technique Tuesday – what a fun product!  Today I am also playing with the same sketch – can be found here – and wanted to use this cute little stamp from Stamps by Judith.  Here’s what  came up with:

I really love this stamp – fell in love with it at the convention and I guess I like it because it has 5 little snowmen  – just like my family – and that seems to draw me to them.  They make a cute little family, I think.  Anyway…. I stamped them and then added snowflakes with this stamp from Technique Tuesday – another find at the convention.  Then I cropped it to the right size and added the sentiment on a strip – from this stamp set – and added buttons with twine to the top corner to finish it off.

What do you think??  Leave a comment and tell me your opinion – I love to hear from you! 🙂

Now – two posts in one day is A LOT for me – but I hope to be back soon with more STAMPTEMBER fun so keep your eyes open!

Take care –

A Warm and Cozy Gift July 8, 2011

Hi All! In case you are just stopping in, I want to let you know that you are entering the  CHRISTMAS IN JULY  fun on my blog today!

Warm Wishes to you all today!  Well,  I guess i should be sending out cool wishes on this hot summer day, but at least my project today has some cooler colors and snowflakes!   For now, we’ll have to just *think* cool!

Today is Friday, and I thought it would be fun to add a project or something other than a card to the Christmas in July thing this year.  So, here it is!  Each Friday in July, instead of just a  card, you’ll get to see some kind of gifty craft that I have been working on.

Today is a cutesy little canister that can hold just about anything!  I made it look a little vintagey with the colors and the tinsel and I think it is soft and neat looking.  The picture doesn’t do it justice, but the top is the best part (in my honest opinion) as I did a neat fun fold of the paper doily and then inked up a felt snowflake to match and then there are the pink buttons all over too – all so much fun!

The papers are from Basic Gray, the stamp is another new favorite from Papertrey Ink, the ink is distress ink from Ranger and the tinsel I picked up at Michaels in the holiday section.

Here’s hoping this cooled you off a bit today – take care and have some fun this weekend!

Happy Birthday Cupcake! June 14, 2011

So, you know me and the cupcake pull is just to great for me to resist… I got this great new set of stamps from PTI and have had the most fun playing with it – it is totally interchangeable and so much fun to play with.  You’ll see it in action in many ways soon enough!

Wednesday is my niece’s birthday – Happy Birthday Caroline! – and I wanted to make her a fun card.  Her favorite color is orange, which I have to admit is not a color I like to work with.  So I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h my creativeness and this is what I came up with.

I also decided to play along with a challenge for the first time in a very long time – over at Eat, Sleep, Stamp.  Tracy always has such neat sketches and challenges and I decided to play along with this one.

Because I still have limited supplies here at my rental, I needed to break out some stuff and get crafty!  The papers and supplies are mostly from Michaels and other than fussy cutting it by hand instead of a die cut, it was relatively easy.

Well, I hope your week is turning out well – it has cooled off a bit here so I don’t feel like we are cooking in our house, but it has been sunny and pleasant!  Enjoy your day!
