Home Sweet Home February 2, 2013
Hello out there! I know it has been a very long time since I stopped in for a post, but I haven’t forgotten about it. Life just has a way of filling up my days, and well, night too!
I have been getting a little crafty mojo back and wanted to let you know that I hope to be posting a little more frequently here. 🙂
While I was away from the blogging, I have been getting crafty with projects around the house. As many of you know, we just moved into our house in July, and I have had some decorating to do to make it “home”. While I am certainly far from done, I have added a few crafty touches to some rooms and thought I’d share one of my little projects here.
This is a little lampshade that I used fabric strips on. I rag-tied the strips onto a plain white shade and LOVE the effect. It makes the shade a little more country and the fabrics I used really go nicely with the quilt on my bed. Since we have 2 lamps – one on either side of the bed- I made two if these to go on each nightstand.
A night of ripping strips and tying for each, but i love how they turned out. Here’s a peek at how they look on the nightstands with our bed and quilt!
Thanks for stopping in! Hope to see you again soon!
Hey there friends!
Did you miss me??? I hadn’t forgotten about you – these past three months have been jam-packed with moving fun here at the Calvert house. 🙂 We moved in late in June and I got the kids bedrooms painted and done before the furniture went in, then it has been just a matter of settling into the house and unpacking the rest of the boxes. It was like Christmas around here for quite a few weeks as we found items in boxes that we haven’t seen/used for almost 2 years! But we have had fun unveiling things and getting them into our new house and settling into it and making it our own.
And then I got to work on the basement area and my craft workshop!!!! Yeah!! I can finally say that I am all unpacked down there – every box opened and gone thru and put into its proper place!! Then I went thru and found all of the items I have already made for sale! I inventoried all of that, priced it all and it’s ready to go to sales this fall! Yippee!
Then I had a major task of cleaning out all of the boxes of ‘stuff’ I have collected to make/do over the years. I started one box at a time and I can really say I thought about things, inventoried, and now have a huge “for sale” pile of craft/stamp/scrapbooking stuff. I made lists of things to do and even wrote down the ideas on the list so I won’t forget!! 🙂 made me laugh at how many things I looked at and couldn’t recall what in the heck I had in mind to do when I bought it! Oh well – live and learn! I now know that I have enough stuff stowed away to keep me busy for a VERY long time!
So I have a little project to share this afternoon that I found and made – yes, that’s right I am now back to making things!! 🙂
It’s a little holiday candy jar – a small treat jar for a counter just for fun!
Trying out new ways to take pics of my crafts – here’s a diff. view:
I filled the jar with peppermint candies so I thought the peppermint candy paper and gingerbread houses were the perfect match for the project.
I hope to be back again real soon with some more goodies from the new crafty workshop!
and I’ll update here on what/when I am doing for craft shows too!
Have a great afternoon – thanks for checking in!
Blast Off! July 19, 2012
Just popping in to say hi after a few weeks of getting settled in to our new house. Things are coming along nicely although I do have to say I am anxious to get at the pile of my craft stuff and get my workshop set up and running. 🙂 Unfortunately, I thought the kids bedrooms and clothing should go first! Ha!
While I haven’t been able to do much crafting, I have some older cards that i didn’t get a chance to post so I thought I’d share them now. I saw this cute robot paper a while back and knew that if I got a few sheets of coordinating papers I could make some cute quick cards. I used a stamp set from CTMH and some glitter glue and google eyes and this is what came of the project.
Some of the robot fun
Quick cuts to make diagonals makes a different look.
So, I used about 5 sheets of paper and cut them all in pieces and made about 10 cards super quick. Glittered them all up and stamped the sayings and viola! I hope you enjoyed seeing something fun and new. I’ll try to be back online again soon for a post!
Take care and stay cool!
Stars and Stripes Forever July 4, 2012
Happy Fourth of July everyone!! Today is a fun day all over the USA with parties, BBQs, and most of all fireworks displays! We are happy to be going to our new town’s show of spectacular fireworks tonight. The kids will have a blast I am sure and I love to watch them dance in the night sky!
The move went fairly smoothly and now we are tackling unpacking everything and getting it into it’s proper “home”. The kids are settling in and making some new friends in the neighborhood and enjoying opening boxes to see their “stuff”! Thanks for everyone’s well-wishes!
Now on to the crafty fun! Here’s two cards I forgot to post last year at Father’s Day – a card I made for my father-in-law and one for my father. I thought it would be fun to share them here since it was all about the stars and stripes and being a great all- American dad/grandpa! ( Please pardon the handwritten sentiment, at that point in my last move I didn’t have my spring sentiments out of the box!)
And here is the card I made for my father. He was in the Navy and so I used the nautical theme. Just love that little sailor hat!
So, Happy “Red,White, and Blue”, “Stars and Stripes Forever”, and all that jazz. May you all be safe and well and “God Bless America”!
Thanks for stopping in!
Many Thanks to Everyone! June 27, 2012
Sending this card out to blogland today to thank EVERYONE for all of their thoughts and prayers as we move on to the next journey in our crazy life! The moving boxes are packed, the truck is full and we are on our way to being homeowners again! yippee!! We can hardly wait! I really appreciate everyone’s help and thoughts and good wishes as we make this move. Hopefully this one will be a lasting one!
A simple silhouette card, but I love how it came out. I used a brayer for the background with some ink and let it dry. Then stamped the silhouette images in chocolate ink on top. Cut it down to card size, matted and mounted it and viola! a card! I added a fancier bow in the corner with the punched tag.
Hoping all of you are happy and well – will keep you posted in the next few weeks about the move and settling in!
Thanks again for stopping in!
Here Comes The Bride June 20, 2012
What would June be if I didn’t pop in with a bridal card? 🙂
Here is my take on a soft bridal card full of white, pearls, and roses. I had fun coloring this bride and also figuring out the cutting of the card. I knew I wanted to do a circle with her on the inside and pearls all around.
Some layers and texture add to the details on the front of the card. I just love this beautiful bride stamp – may have to go and make some more cards with her just to play!
So there you go – June with a bridal card 🙂
I’ll be back again next week, although it will probably be a pretyped post since I will be in the middle of the big move! We are getting excited!! 🙂 The next few days I will be packing up my “craft workshop” or shall I say, what I have out in crafts. It is always hard for me to do – I have to say I liked when the movers did it a lot better! But I keep focused on the end prize and I will be up and running again real soon!!
Take care – thanks for stopping by!
